Syllabus Requirement
Trade protection can be justified on various grounds, including economic development, security, and equity. Common justifications include: protection of infant (sunrise) industries, national security concerns, enforcement of health and safety standards, environmental protection, anti-dumping measures, responses to unfair competition, correcting balance of payments deficits, raising government revenue, protecting jobs, and promoting diversification in economically less developed countries (ELDCs).
